Oooh What a Big One!

Now that the leaves are dying back the pumpkin patch is revealing this year's crop.  Special mention for the butternut squash (Hunter).  This one weighs in at over 4 kilos.  There is twin awaiting harvest but there is only so much carrying power between the allotment and home.

Then there is Blue Kuri and Golden Hubbard

And here they are together

There's plenty more to come.  As ever

  1. We harvested our squash this week before the rain as they were nice and dry. The butternut proves how stupid recipes are that call for one butternut squash. It's really irritating when people seem to have no idea that vegetables don't come in standard sizes.

    1. I share your dismay at some recipes. (Am I daft for being irritated by one that specifies "6 banana shallots"?)

  2. I love walking round the site at the moment seeing all the different squashes revealed. Quite envious of your blue kuri I must admit :-)
    And that song! 😂

    1. The jury is still out on the Blue Kuri/Crown Prince id confusion!
