Bumblebee Food

Following my recent post featuring willow catkins I have been  on the lookout for bumblebees.  Sure enough, with the recent afternoon sunshine they have appeared in numbers.

And boy those willow trees are just covered with catkins now.

  1. Our council came up with the idea that no new fruit trees should be planted on allotments. I argued that bees etc relied on early fruit blossom and that even just for the sake of biodiversity it was a ridiculous decision. AS it is our trees are mature now and most people just ignore the rules anyway. Some for good reason and others bad ones.

    1. Don't get me started on rules and regulations. (Edinburgh's regulations are being revamped for the first time in over 100 years. You wouldn't believe the nonsense written into them. e.g 3 approved colours for sheds. But checking them out, fruit trees are the only trees permitted provided they do not exceed "7.5cm in diameter, measured at a height of 1.8 metres")
