One Potato, Two Potato...

Just emerged:

OK OK all you southerners will be laughing that they are so late. Well this is Scotland and a week ago we got this:

The hailstones weighed down the thrip netting on the carrot patch.

Now when I saw my parsnips on my last post I realised just how weedy they really were. Situation now rectified.

  1. Your parsnips are further on than ours.

  2. I haven't got parsnips this year. As for your potatoes, they look great and are further along than my late planted one's so this southerner isn't laughing at all!!

  3. That hail is certainly no laughing matter. Hail can destroy a tender crop (e.g. tomatoes) in a couple of minutes. The first of my potatoes (container-grown) will probably be harvested in about a week to 10 days from now.

  4. We had some hail recently too. Just after we took the plants out of the greenhouse as we were moving it round. I was running around like a headless chicken trying to protect the plants!
