These are Sharpe's Express. Old fashioned and maligned by some commentators, as floury, quick to disintegrate and tasteless, these ones were sweet and delicious and kept their shape in the pan. Not floury at all (yet).

ReplyDeleteOur site is lucky. Alluvial soil. But we do get flooded nearly every year by the burn that runs along it. The site was a market garden before converting to allotments over a hundred years ago.
