Yesterday was St David's Day and I went to the plot to dig leeks
They are not the sort of crop that you shout about. Too small to bother about in autumn they have looked rather tatty over the winter. But now they are coming into their own when little else is available.
Anyone for soup?
We're having leek and potato soup today :)
ReplyDeleteSoup rules at this time of year!
DeleteAlmost time to sow next year's crop.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and parsnips too! Also some of the jerusalem artechokes get transplanted to another spot at this time of year.
DeleteCompared with my feeble efforts, those Leeks look pretty good!
ReplyDeleteAfter a long wait they are showing a bit of Mussel(burgh).
DeleteI love leeks .... how about washing, slicing them then put in a small oven proof dish - shake/ sprinkle on some salt, pepper, mixed herbs and cover with double cream and grated cheese. Cook in the oven at 180 / Reg 5 for about 20 / 25 minutes ,,,, absolutely delicious.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks for the recipe Jan.
DeleteMy leeks weren't' nearly as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice surprise when my patch came good, Kelli. Perhaps my laziness did me service because they looked like a waste of space in mid winter!
